Things we will be celebrating & learning about: Valentines day (14th), Shrove Tuesday (21st), Random Act of Kindness Day (17th) & Thinking Day (22nd)

Teenie Moons

During the month of January the Teenie Moons have been focusing on their language, following simple instructions and using their dominant hand to control tools and objects.

They have done this through a range of interesting and engaging activities and have even been on an outing or two to get out and about into the community.

The Teenie Moons enjoyed celebrating/learning about Chinese New Year too. Did you know it is the year of the rabbit this year?
They enjoyed painting, dancing, and trying new foods. Their favorite was the prawn toast.

The Teenie Moon room has also had a move round to encourage the children to walk further between furniture and to ensure the children have a cozy area to calm down and chill out if they need to. The room has also had some new storage cupboards to give more space for toys & resources.

The team in Teenie Moons are holding a parent workshop on Monday 27th March and they want to hear from you. Please speak to the team about any topics you’d like to learn about or need support with 😊

Mini Moons

In January the Mini Moons have been focusing on Space! This has been to promote language, joining in with others fantasy play and playing alongside their friends.

They have also learnt all about Chinese New Year. The children worked with Lucy, Ellesse and Claire to make a Chinese dragon so they could do some dancing and they have also created their own dragon masks.

To promote some fine motor skills the Mini Moons team have provided a continuous area for playdough, meaning the children use dough to manipulate and move the dough around- this also helps the children follow instructions.

Full Moons

During the month of January Full Moons have been working on solving real life problems, counting beyond 10, healthy eating/ portion control and following instructions and rules. They have had lots of challenging and engaging invitations to play and have been using their skills to work with one another to resolve problems.

One of their highlights on the month, was making Pizza with Megan & Amy. They all made a pizza (from scratch) and chose what toppings they wanted. The children followed instructions perfectly and commenced effectively with each other and the EYPS.

The Full Moons also learnt about China and Chinese New Year. One Full Moons said, “It is the year of the rabbit!”. The children decorated money wallets and learnt about their origin, they were confidently able to tell the EYPs what they were for and why they are used. Ask your Full Moon and see if they remember!

They have also loved being in control of different tools in January, one of which being scissors. They have focused on scissor safety and using their fine motor skills to manipulate the tools.

The garden…

As you may have seen on our social media, we are having a garden refurb!!

Both ends of the garden are having a makeover and we cannot wait to see Claires vision being brought to life. We are having new flooring (paving slabs instead of the decking), new fences, resources, and furniture.

Our children love having access to the outdoor areas and Claires muddy moons sessions so this will enhance their learning opportunities and allow us more space to utilize the area to its full potential.

Celebrations
In February, both Amy & Megan will be celebrating 6 amazing years at Banana Moon Kingsbury! Throughout those years they’ve both achieved amazing things, including becoming part of the management team and completing level 3.

Beth has also received her level 3 in childcare!! We are so proud of her and cannot wait to see what amazing things she is going to achieve!
